On being verbose in the third world and on de-vegetarianism

21Nov08

Third-world high fallutifying |On a jeepney yesterday, I saw one of them pop-art painted signs, the way the destination on a jeepney is fancifully written. On the wooden plaque, it read: APOCALYPSE. Wondered if they knew what it meant. At least it was spelled right.

Devegetarianism | Since Zach talked me into going back to meat, I have been remeating, successfully. No bad stomachs (yet) and the breakouts are over. It’s been lovely though, reacquainting myself with all the good stuff. Burgers. Lasagna. It started with baby steps, but now, it’s meat all the way.

In some twisted way, it was good that I went pesco for some time, since now, everything tastes better. Has me singing praises to meat as mundane as corned beef. (Salivating.)

  1. Wow. What’s it feel like to De Vegetarianise? :) And what made you go back to meat?

    It’s actually. very. delicious. Haha.
Well, for practical reasons, really. It’s expensive to have two different viands, since there’s no way Zach will go pesco. haha. Really, I just missed meat. Mwahaha

  3. I’m interested in your motivation. First, why did you become vegetarian in the first place, and secondly, what were the reasons that made you eat meat again. I’m sure that the taste of meat wasn’t the only reason?

I would like to know because I write some articles about the subject of vegetarians vs. meat eaters. Could you perhaps send me a reply? Thanks a lot. Congratulations with your decision by the way.

You’re absolutely right. It wasn’t the taste of meat :) In fact, I lost taste for it having stayed away from it for nearly six years. Going back to it tastes good though. haha

First off, my motivation for deciding to go vegetarian wasn’t really one driven by conviction (which I totally respect but don’t necessarily feel my values are congruent with). It was more of a health thing, was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries, endometriosis and had cysts in my breasts and I felt I needed to do something about it. It didn’t necessarily help, since there aren’t any studies i know of that necessarily show a direct relation between the two.
I found a food supplement that helped me, and since the health issue has been addressed, and I’m getting married (it’s tough to cook vegetarian food AND meat for someone else) i decided to really go back to meat.

  5. Thank you so much for your honest reply. I’m glad your healthproblem(s) have been sorted out and I wish you luck in your marriage too. I’ll keep on track of things on your new blog vanillawalking. ;)

    Kind regards
